I have the bitch itch from Hashimotos Thyroiditis. Too many symptoms overlap. Do I have the bitch itch or is it skin cancer? I remember when my daughter had lice. She was horrified when in 4th-ish Grade a lice fell on her school work in the middle of class. We cleaned the sheets, towels, sofa... They came back. Had to sterilize the house to get rid of them. Good times.
The itching is a THING! And it pops up in different places at different times. Peri/menopause really is a wild ride and you don't even realize you're on it until you suddenly start having a bunch of strange symptoms that nobody ever told you to expect. Glad to have another voice out there spreading the word!
Oh my gosh! Are we talking about formication? I was living on an island at the time. And this was another reason I thought I was losing my mind. I just randomly felt like insects were crawling on me! I thought I had acquired bed bugs in my own bed. I was ready to call an exterminator and curse the damn island. Thanks for the tips on hyalauronic moisturizers!
Yeah, it started to feel like par for the course, smh. And oops on the typo. H-y-a-l-u-r-o-n-i-c, did not catch that. This is why I should not think I can do correspondence at 3am.
I am past the peri menopause itch but the vag itch is now very real. Never experienced anything like it before. I went to the doctor fearing I had some weird kind of disease. Nope, just standard menopause symptom as my vagina shrivels up. Steroid cream at night helped for awhile but the thought of my vagina on steroids? That was just too much!
You know what I like for the Vag itch? Vag of Honor from Stripes... it's now available on amazon at (https://amzn.to/442Fq6b) and on Sephora.com. It's holistic--so no hormones, no steroids and I think you might be able to get it in Canada???
Oh hell. Well that explains it. I'm itchng all over all the time! Except I'm 62 and well into post- menopause. 😡
Thank you for explaining what's going on, at least! BTW, I *AM* on anti-anxiety meds (because I have GAD, not for the itch), and they don't make a dang bit of difference. 😂
So, Mel is about to be 55 and SHE is still having bitch itch too!!! Maybe try the Aveeno links I just posted--they are all under $11. I am on a GAD med as well--not for the itch--just b/c I get anxious... what can I say??? It's how I'm wired, but I HAVE found the dry brushing helps along with a basic hyaluronic moisturizer... even from Trader Joe's... it doesn't have to be fancy :)
Lordy... I feel like every household went through lice at least once. So much mortification and laundry! And women are such bespoke beings... with co-morbid conditions! We need to have these conversations and double check it all b/c this is a full-systems transformation. At the same time, I was going through perimenopause, I was Dx'd w/ adult onset epilepsy. I did NOT see that one coming. To have multiple conditions all at once is a lot. We really need midlife health doulas.

I love that hyaluronic moisturizers are getting cheaper and so readily available. And I would have been a basket case on an island!!!
