Congrats on all of your success and your books! 🎉 Thank you for sharing your story here and inspiring this amazing community of women. We truly can do seemingly impossible things. ☺️
Side note: I've been to Kerala and have tasted the Keralan Masala Dosa - it's nothing less than divine. ✨
Alisa, Preethi, and Heather, thank you for this awesome interview. I say awesome because I am in awe of your kick-ass abilities Preethi. Congratulations on being up for the independent book of the year!
Reading about Unravelling (I can't wait to get the book in my hands) makes me wonder if every woman harbours a secret love that they hold in their heart forever and no amount of moving on actually removes the ties that bind. And yet I know this isn't the case as I have many friends who have no such love. This is a great story to explore.
What a story! Thank you for introducing me to this spectacular woman.:) Now, I must get my hands on Preethi’s work. Just about finished with Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow (per your recommendation) so I’ll be eager to begin Unraveling next.
I loved reading this! What a rockstar. Talk about finding a work-around?? Preethi's was epic! I kept thinking, who does that? Someone who then goes on to write, act and direct her own freaking one woman show, that's who. Wowza. You've got me hooked. Where do i sign up?
Also, I love the simplest of all mid-life hacks which is so true, "Drink lots of water and keep doing things out of your comfort zone. Both can be done at the same time so double win."
2025 is all about being firmly outside my comfort zone--at least for short bursts! And water! My mantra... "be like water." 🤣🤣
Ah thank you Kim. "Drink lots of water and keep doing things out of your comfort zone. Both can be done at the same time so double win." I'm all about efficiency :)
Absolute delight to read Preethi's ability to overcome the publishing obstacles--and, Alisa, this is exactly what your new publishing house is doing! If there's still a free one left, I would love to have it xx ~ Mary
I totally spaced because it has been so busy here at the press, but we are doing a giveaway of 3 Kindle copies! Would you like one??? 2 more for the next people who reach out to me! I will put it in the post! xo
Love this. Having completed a manuscript about a body positive Jewish woman looking for self love, climbing the corporate ladder, and finding romantic love in the process, I’ve been shopping my novel around and no luck so far. I’ve changed my approach with the query letter, etc. and taken classes to learn how to best manage (tips and tricks from professional editors etc) but I’ve all but given up… Hearing stories of Preethi, for example founded her own publishing house to publish her book is inspirational and sparks the idea that where there is persistence and resilience there is a path forward. Thank you for this!
Great story! Also - the scent of jasmine! The best!
Such a heady wonderful scent!

After all these Arctic blasts, ten days in Kerala is SO what the doctor ordered!
