Fellow Empresses, How the hell are you?
You know, I never thought perimenopause at age 40 would manifest the way it did.
I’d told my OB/GYN, "When the time comes, write me a script for Eileen Fisher, some lube, and a little Fosamax, and off I go."
It did NOT involve me having a grand mal seizure on the street in New York City and a gaggle of good Samaritans hauling me into a funeral home only to wake up to an indignant Funeral Director whisper-shouting, “You can't bring her in here like this. She doesn't have an appointment!”
And me going, “OK, first, NOT dead YET... just my brain on perimenopause and second, appointment???”
But midlife takes on different forms for every woman, which is why I founded The Empress. And I’ve had to unlearn and relearn so many things along the way.
One of the things we learned when we surveyed over 4000 of you is that your number one fear in midlife was that menopause + a chronic health condition would result in severe financial hardship. We know that women’s health and wealth are inextricably bound and that focused planning is everything. We also know that there hasn’t been nearly enough research. That’s part of why we’re doing this—we want midlife women to thrive.

Again, in a world that often overlooks the beauty and potential of midlife, events like The Good Leap serve as a reminder that this stage of life is not a plateau but a springboard to new possibilities. With the right mindset, support, and resources, midlife can be a time of growth, fulfillment, and boundless opportunity.
