This intro—so spot on. And Eleanor’s passionate delivery, an inspiration. I want to see her knowing gaze plastered all over buses and trains and Times Square marquees, staring down the patriarchy until they wet their pants, while simultaneously giving all the women a good nudge and a “go on then, you can do it too.”
So much great stuff in this profile! "Menopause is one crazy rush of inflammation" is 100% true, and I'm glad that she said the "get off sugar and alcohol" part out loud. In my own perimenopausal community I've seen a huge difference between those who have done this and those who haven't, and the latter are having far more physical/mental challenges. Can't wait to read her new book, it sounds aces!
It felt like pure luck that I stumbled into it at exactly the right time. I too see the increased struggle of those who haven't. It's such a simple hack when you think about it. And it doesn't have to be forever.
I did the whole anti-inflammation diet and have cut alcohol almost entirely out of my diet, and it's made such a difference in how I sleep and feel Every. Day. I only realized in my late 40s how much sleep I actually need to be a good human. 😂
Hmm, not sure, but I've jumped pretty big in my time. I used to hunt (social/political/ethical arguments aside) it was pretty wild and there was no knowing what enormous hedge was coming up. I show jumped too, when I was younger, small competitions but big fences. These days I take it easy. I took the shoes off my horse last year, we're now barefoot and a 100% the better for it. He feels like a whole horse now.
I rode and showed for 40 years but now horse-less. Miss it every day but can't risk a fall at this point. Sounds like you and your horse have a lovely relationship. They are the best life has to offer.
I don't know, Eleanor, are you a jumper??? Or do you ride like the wind? I grabbed that photo as a placeholder, just considering how over-the-top we all get during book launches... :)
#4! The paragraph about women's bodies and who they belong to. Yes to everything you are saying!! I'm sending it to my 18 year old daughter and copying for myself as a manifesto. Thank you! And many congrats on your new book! ☺️✨
The honesty of this stage of life. Yes, please! We love it, too. So much.
It's the best thing that ever happened to me 💃🏻. What blessed relief .
Fuck-yeah! Whisper-shouts the recovering people-pleaser 😂
😂
She is a shooting star of spectacular insights.
Thanks, Teyani ✨

Right??? I see her gaze EVERYWHERE! The patriarchy is SO going to need nappies!

They are the best. I love him deeply.

Yes! And ride like the wind! My boy Tommy is an absurd mix of humour and wild. We call him The Glint.
The Glint is WONDERFUL.

100%. I want both my daughters to feel this sense of self-sovereignty!
Exactly!!
Whoop whoop! And thanks.
