I went out searching for some relief and then ended up buying a whole bunch of weird creams and moisturizers for inside my vagina (I know, what was I thinking?) All to say I have a bathroom drawer full of stuff I never use and doesn't seem to work.

However! I did find one product that has worked wonders in the dry vaginal department when it comes to sex. They are called Pleasure Pods. There is no messy goop because they are solid and are activated by heat. Plus, they are all natural--no chemicals. A couple in Canada invented these nifty little things and I'm a believer. No more painful sex. (Sorry, didn't mean for this to turn into more marketing!) But, it really works. πŸ˜‚

No, this is great! They do need some branding help and a new site--as they definitely have a cooking vibe! But it's great to know about more resources that have actually been vetted by readers... because we are sent products all the time, but often... there's too much fragrance or an allergen or a spokesperson with an agenda that's counterproductive--like a super right wing martial artist who suddenly wants to help peri/menopausal women help shed their belly fat, lol. SMDH.

I have not been inundated by meno-ads. Although now that I typed itβ€” it will come. Menopause is so individual I would imagine it would be tough to invent products for the masses. But I’m open.

I think because of The Empress Instagram being so large (for us, at least) we are especially inundated with all the things. There's a fair amount grift with the silly Kardashian vag gummies... but I appreciate people like Naomi Watts, Judy Greer, Stacy London, and Ann Marie McQueen bringing attention to the matter in terms of reducing stigma and using their platforms to get research equity initiatives passed... Because we need better, more bespoke care for midlife women--especially non-hormonal options.

Since I am newish to the whole menopause thing I am not sure what is normal. I am guessing that ten years ago you didn't flip on the TV and see ads like Lume. You did see ads for Tampons, which I never see now and I still watch actual TV. The word "menopause" was never spoken in public, it seems to me or, did I just not notice? It's all the rage to talk about these days which is sort of neat, but also sort of weird that something like that is "in." Gen X is such a tiny group, why are we getting this openness in formerly private matters....seems way more young boomerish to be all out there...no?

I guess I see Oprah (now 70) leading the charge with her multigenerational summit on the topic with Drew Barrymore and Dr, Sharon Malone-- galvanizing the conversation around stigma, HRT, and physician resistance to it. After that event, It was on every morning show, media outlet, and business segment. With over a billion women in menopause by 2025, it feels like this newfound openness is driven by more opportunistic forces than altruism... We shall see. xox

I mean, WAY more attention needs to be paid to all this stuff, but it has to be the right kind of attention, and all the (inevitable) capitalist sales-y shit isn't that. I just hope somewhere in all this mess some medical schools are waking up and realizing that they need to completely rebuild their student trainings around menocare. Wouldn't it be great if like, Columbia med and Harvard med and Johns Hopkins all decided collectively to create an official area of OBGYN specialty, and to train their students accordingly, using state-of-the-art research, and funding from deep-pocket sources to get it all done?

Agree. It could be a boon to medical schools and the field, which has been losing providers due to burnout and lower med school enrollments since before the Pandemic. Can you imagine a 'Women Who Run with the Wolves Midlife Science Fellowship'--honoring the book? Who wouldn't want to endow that?

The irony of Gwenyth Paltrow's Madame Ovary branding is that she must never have read the book as Madame Bovary married a doctor, had an affair, accumulated debts, entangled herself in lies and commited suicide. The name might have seemed cleaver but stupid in reality.
