Fellow Empresses, How the hell are you?
Happy Galentine’s/Valentine’s to all who celebrate!
Something we here at The Empress have been giving a great deal of thought to lately is what it means to find greater cultural visibility as a midlife woman. It’s a transformative, liminal time when one can feel as
puts it storyless and so it’s a moment of both vulnerability where you see menopause marketers swooping with all manner of products and narratives of how midlife “should” be, but also a time of greater power to get curious and explore what it “could” be in terms of shifting your own life narrative. We’ve also always believed, regardless of relationship status, love is something that you DO—so DO IT today with a midlife woman who matters in your life.
So, following
’s lead this week, call, text, or send a carrier pigeon so that more of us feel seen and heard together. These last few years have been hard on us all—and what we’re seeing is that close friendships are more important than ever.On another front entirely… For those of you in The Empress Book Club, reading Kirsten Miller’s The Change, how are you liking it thus far? Do you have gripes?
How would you characterize each woman’s connection to love and relationships? Do you find parallels in your own life? Or are there stark differences? Stay tuned for a Zoom announcement targeting the first Sunday in March.
Again, looking forward to seeing you all at The Good Leap on 02.29.24! We have some amazing featured guests joining us—bios coming soon in the comments section of the post!
Yours in Grandeur & Deep Sh*t,

I spent the afternoon with a friend I've known since high school. We don't see each other often because we live in different countries, but when she comes to Canada it's always so nice to connect with someone that just knows you. A couple of women who have done 'life' together yet apart and it's such a special bond when we can see each other. Like no time has passed.
And, on that note, how the heck are you?! Happy Galentine's Day to you. I'm so glad to have you in my mid-life life :) xo.
And Walter Pidgeon?
I have a black thumb too. At least you went for the veggies. My basil is bare.
